The actress who played Miss Moneypenny in the last four James Bond movies is delighted Daniel Craig has been named as the new suave superspy - even though see has been axed from the film franchise.

Samantha Bond inherited the famous role of the secret service secretary opposite Pierce Brosnan in 1995's GOLDENYE - but Miss Moneypenny has been written out of the new movie because she only fleetingly appears in IAN FLEMING's Casino Royale novel.

But Bond has no bitter feelings towards the film's producers, and she is convinced Craig, the first blond Bond, is the perfect candidate to take the role in new direction.

She says, "I think it's an absolutely brilliant choice. He is butch, male, attractive and a bloody good actor. He was by far the most plausible choice."
