A public memorial for Mindy McCready is set to be held in Nashville, Tennessee to allow the her friends and peers to bid farewell to the tragic country star.

The Guys Do It All the Time singer was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at her home in Arkansas on Sunday (17Feb13), just a month after the sudden death of her producer boyfriend David Wilson, who is also believed to have taken his own life.

Now MCCready's publicists at Music City Media are planning to hold a remembrance service in the country music mecca so those in the industry can "say goodbye to an extraordinary and gifted talent, a daughter, a mother and friend", reports ETonline.com.

A statement released by her handlers reads: "Preliminary plans are being made by Mindy's 'friends in music' to organise a memorial in Nashville in the coming days."

Meanwhile, MCCready's brother, Josh, tells the New York Daily News her remains will be returned to her native Florida for a private funeral, although details have yet to be finalised.
