On the eve of the release of 'Jersey Boys', we look at Eastwood's ten biggest successes as a director.
Having first installed himself within American culture with his recurring role as Rowdy Yates in the cowboy seriesRawhide, San Francisco native Clint Eastwood would become renowned across the world for his roles in a succession of violent and iconic Westerns. The ‘Man With No Name’ character, first seen in the hallowed ‘Spaghetti Western’ trilogy, saw Eastwood become internationally known as a steely actor who went down a storm with domestic and global audiences.

Sylvester Stallone's 1976 movie about underdog boxer Rocky Balboa topped a poll by Lovefilm ahead of the 1993 comedy about the Jamaican Olympic bobsleigh team and Hilary Swank's Oscar-winning turn in Million Dollar Baby.
Lovefilm editor Helen Cowley says, "With the (2012 London) Olympics on their way... sport is a hot topic - from living room to locker room. Whether it is football favourites, bobsleighing blunders or boxing Balboas we love to watch sporting heroes cross the finishing line in style."
The top five is rounded out by Raging Bull and The Wrestler, while other movies in the top 10 include The Blind Side, The Damned United and The Fighter.

The movie mogul, who retired last week (01Apr11), has opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about his 12 years as a studio boss, telling all about his hits and misses in Hollywood.
And he admits he got lucky with Eastwood's boxing drama, which picked up Best Actress, Best Director, Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor Oscars in 2004 - because he only got another look at the script when rival studios also passed on the film.
He recalls, "Clint came to me... He had not cast anybody. I read it and I thought, 'Well, I just don't see it... I don't know if women want to see a woman fight.' He said, 'I wouldn't want the studio doing anything that it's not comfortable with.' So he took it around town and did not get a taker.

The double-Oscar winner, 36, was a strict vegetarian throughout her 20s, but needed a protein-packed diet to build up her strength during filming of the 2004 movie, which saw her play a female fighter.
Swank started devouring huge quantities of fish, leaving her with dangerously high levels of mercury in her blood, and after struggling to get her body back to normal, she was forced to turn her back on her meat-free diet.
She tells Britain's You magazine, "I put on 19 pounds of muscle: I was 29, I was a vegetarian and suddenly I was eating so much fish that I got elevated mercury problems. It plagued me for a couple of years after that movie.

The 35-year-old actress has purchased a two-bedroom apartment at Superior Ink - a complex of condos in Manhattan's star-studded West Village, according to the New York Post.
The actress' new A-list neighbours include supermodel-turned-actress Gisele Bundchen, Liv Tyler and twin moguls Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Hilary Swank loves using public transport - because it helps her stay "in touch" with life.
The Million Dollar Baby star believes celebrities should make a concerted effort to be "normal", and shouldn't let their fame get in the way of social interaction.
She says, "I love taking public transportation when I can and being with people because that's what I do, that's my job.
"When actors become famous, they become more solitary. But when you start losing touch with people, you lose touch with life."
Double Oscar winner Hilary Swank has given other actresses advice on how to survive tonight's (25FEB07) prestigious Academy Awards ceremony - don't eat or drink anything.
The 32-year-old is a familiar sight at the awards show, having picked up her first Best Actress Oscar in 1999 for her harrowing role as a transgender man in BOYS DON'T CRY, and the second in 2004 for Million Dollar Baby, and she is keen to pass on her tips to her less experienced peers.
She says, "The key is not to drink at all - as you don't want to be running to the ladies. You also can't eat as the dresses are so tight and you spend about five hours walking down the red carpet, doing interviews and sitting through the show."
Hilary Swank's estranged husband Chad Lowe has found love again with Carrie Fisher's personal assistant.
Lowe, 32, has been quietly dating pretty brunette KIM PAINTER, 33, since October (06).
The two became friends last summer and went public with their relationship at a wedding in Los Angeles last month (DEC06).
A source tells American publication Star, "She's not into the Hollywood scene, she's a tomboy and drives a pickup truck."
Swank and Lowe announced they were splitting last year (06), and the Million Dollar Baby star is currently dating her agent, JOHN CAMPISI.
Two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank goes to extreme measures to make her characters believable and even developed a potential health problem because of her strict diet for one role.
Swank won her Academy Awards for BOYS DON'T CRY and Million Dollar Baby and insists the intense training required to play a boxer pushed her body too far.
She explains, "If I believe in a role, and in the story, I'll do what I need to make it believable and to make it work.
"I have some problems with elevated mercury in my system. I wasn't eating meat when I was filming Million Dollar Baby but had to put on 19 pounds (9 kilograms) of muscle.
"So I ate a lot of fish. And for Boys Don't Cry, I went down to seven per cent body fat. In BLACK DAHLIA, when my character dies, I hit my arm on an old-fashioned ironing board, and I have a scar from that.
"But how great to have that. That's what life is - you want to get in there and play hard. The battle scars are a reminder that you're alive and human and that you bleed."
Picking up a Special Film-making Achievement prize for Million Dollar Baby at the National Board of Review Awards dinner in New York on Tuesday (11JAN05), Eastwood urged the FAHRENHEIT 9/11 director to avoid making him the subject of a future project if he values his life.
However, Eastwood - a staunch supporter of the Republicans - did admit he and Moore have a shared view of how American society should operate.
