A man has been convicted of trespassing at Miley Cyrus' Los Angeles home earlier this year, and has now been sentenced to 18-months in jail for his crime.

The man, 40-year-old Jason Luis Rivera, was sentenced at a Los Angeles Court yesterday (October 12th) for misdemeanour trespassing and for resisting arrest and will face a maximum sentence of 18-months, TMZ reports. He has been under police custody since September 8th when he was caught and Cyrus' LA compound, where he was found with a pair of scissor in his possession.

During the incident that took lace last month, Rivera was spotted hiding in the bushes within Cyrus' property and was reported by eagle-eyed neighbours and those in the house at the time. When confronted, Rivera repeatedly said that he was a friend of Miley and that he was waiting for her. The 19-year-old singer/actress was not home during the incident and has since confirmed that she is most definitely NOT a friend of Mr Rivera, nor had she ever seen him before.

Rivera will begin serving his sentence immediately, whilst Miley has been advised to file a restraining order as the temporary one set up following his intrusion does not continue with his sentencing.
