Miley Cyrus has thanked her fans for putting her Wrecking Ball ballad back on top of the U.S. pop charts.
The track has ended Lorde's nine-week run atop the Billboard Hot 100 with Royals and it makes history by landing the longest gap between number ones from the same chart run in the 55 years of the countdown.
The previous record holder was MACklemore & Ryan Lewis, who had to wait five weeks for their Thrift Shop to return to the top of the charts.
Thrilled by her return to the top of the charts, Cyrus took to Twitter.com on Wednesday (04Dec13) to thank fans for their support, writing, "Wrecking Ball is back to being #1 on Billboard's Hot 100! Thank you Thank you Thank you my precious little sugar pie pumpkin angel loves!"
Eminem's The Monster spends a fourth week at number two, while Lorde's Royals drops to three.
Pitbull and Ke$ha's Timber rises to four on the new chart and OneRepublic's Counting Stars slides a spot to five.
