Miley Cyrus is growing out her hair to look like Madonna.

The 20-year-old singer plans to copy the same curly crop the pop superstar sported on her self-titled 1983 debut album cover while she grows out her peroxide pixie look.

Chris McMillan, Miley's hairstylist, told E! News: ''We're growing it out. Up and over is the new direction. We're keeping it short on the sides and back until the top gets longer. Very Madonna first album cover.''

The 'We Can't Stop' hitmaker has sported textured faux hawk styles in the past, namely to the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards' red carpet.

She confessed earlier this week she was bored of her short locks and wanted to start wearing extensions as soon as her hair was long enough.

Chris is famed for creating 'The Rachel', Jennifer Aniston's iconic haircut from her 'Friends' days, so the former Disney star is in good hands.

He is also responsible for chopping off Miley's tresses last summer and crafting the edgy look which helped overhaul both her image and her career.

Despite insisting ''you will never see me with long hair again'', Miley has been taking vitamin supplements to make her hair grow faster.

She confessed: ''I'm secretly tugging on it every night and taking [hair growth vitamin supplement] Viviscal, I'm not going to lie. But I'm going to rock it while I have it.''She confessed: ''I'm secretly tugging on it every night and taking [hair growth vitamin supplement] Viviscal, I'm not going to lie.
