The freak casting of Mike Tyson as a sexual abuse victim on this week's Law & Order: SVU did not produce the ratings bonanza during the February sweeps that the producers had hoped for. Far from it. Wednesday's episode drew just 5.2 million viewers, the fewest number of TV watchers that the show has ever recorded. It also finished last in its time period. The casting of Tyson the role of a victim had outraged rape survivors who had urged NBC to cast someone else in the role. The network declined to do so but moved the broadcast date up one week so that it would not coincide with a global rally supporting victims of rape and sexual abuse.
