A psychiatrist and a New York priest helped bring Mickey Rourke back from the brink when he thought his life was over.
The fallen actor was out of work and broke when he sought both mental and spiritual help and credits two men for helping him at his time of need.
Rourke says his shrink, who he calls his "best friend" and who he visits once a week, helped him realise he himself was to blame for messing up his life and FATHER PETER forced him to stop feeling sorry for himself.
He says, "Father Peter helped me out during a very difficult period.
"We went down to the cellar, had some red wine, smoked some cigarettes and talked... Father Peter's the bomb."
Meanwhile, Rourke's shrink, who once loaned him $30,000 (GBP15,790), has been helping the actor deal with his brother Joe's cancer death last October (04).
Rourke says, "He died in my arms. I've seen a lot in my life, but you're never ready to have your brother die in your arms. Joe and I did everything together.
"People say, 'What are your dreams? What do you want?' I want Joe to walk through the f**king door."25/03/2005 03:03
