Veteran rocker SIR Mick Jagger wowed his Spanish fans when he spoke in Catalan to apologise for cancelling the Rolling Stones' Barcelona gig last year (06). The Stones were forced to pull gigs at Barcelona's Olympic Stadium and three other Spanish cities when he was struck down with laryngitis. The group are returning to Spain this month (Jun07) for the rescheduled gigs so Jagger took to TV station Canal 3 to say sorry in Catalan - which is spoken by Barcelona residents. TV executives approved Jagger's Catalan dictions as "better than average".
