Wrestling icon Mick Foley is helping to promote a new Kickstarter.com campaign to fund a documentary about six professional Santas.
Foley, aka Mankind, dyed his beard white and features in the film I Am Santa Claus, which chronicles the lives of men who live for the Christmas holidays, so they can bring a little joy into the hearts of kids.
Movie spokesman Tommy Avellone tells Wenn, "We have documented an entire year in the lives of six real-bearded professional Santa Clauses to find out what the rest of the year is like for a man who perpetually looks like jolly Saint Nick. In the process, they are shown for who they actually are - flawed, flesh and blood men who feel an overbearing responsibility to protect the integrity of the spotless, untarnished reputation of the red suit."
One of the Santas is an unemployed, divorced Michigan man, living with his daughter, while Santa Jim resides in Fort Worth, Texas and is the proud winner of Mr. Texas Bear Round-Up, the largest gathering of hairy, overweight, homosexual men in the country.
Foley, a former three time World Wrestling Entertainment heavyweight champion, bestselling author and "big time Christmas enthusiast", has his basement decked out for Christmas all year round. He is filmed as he prepares to play a professional Saint Nick for the first time.
The project launched last year after an initial crowdsourcing initiative on Kickstarter to fund the filming and now producers are returning to the site to fund a sales campaign at upcoming film festivals.
The documentarians are hoping to raise $80,000 (Gbp51,600).
