Michelle Rodriguez cares more about how she looks now than early in her career but it has made her more nervous before red carpet events
Michelle Rodriguez is embracing her femininity more as she gets older.
But the 'Fast & Furious 6' star - known for her tough-chick persona - gets more anxious before a red carpet event now than she did early in her career because she cares more about what she looks like.
The 34-year-old actress exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the world premiere for the new action movie at London's Empire Leicester Square Cinema on Tuesday (07.05.13): ''I never used to get nervous because I didn't care before but as you get older and your oestrogen starts kicking in you start getting a little more girlie, actually liking the process of picking out what you're going to wear.
''I figured it's time for me to grow up out of the cargo pants and tank tops.''
Despite being a fitness fanatic, the actress felt under pressure to get in better shape before shooting the film.
She said: ''I did for this, especially when you're up against an ex-MMA fighter like Gina Carano, you gotta represent, you know what I mean. I know I'm a scrappy street fighter but you're up against an MMA chick, you gotta get that workout on, that core going on. If I didn't she'd probably snap something on me.''
Michelle, who was joined on the blue carpet by her co-stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Luke Evans, Gal Gadot, Elsa Pataky, Gina Carano and Jordana Brewster, also revealed that Twitter and Facebook made it impossible to keep her appearance in the movie a secret.
She explained: ''It's impossible! I'll tell you man it really is impossible to keep a secret like that. The minute we're on set, everybody already knew that Letty Ortiz was coming back to the franchise.''
The brunette beauty had a great time filming the movie but is disappointed she didn't get to hang out with singer Rita Ora more on set.
She said: ''She has a cameo piece in the film. I barely got to see her because she sets off the starting line fight for us but just having her there was really awesome.''
