Due Date Review

Bad
This film purports to be a comedy and yet doesn't contain a single genuine laugh. Although there are a few very cheap ones. But the strangest thing is that it seems to have been written more as an angry drama.

Peter (Downey) is an architect in Atlanta on business, ready to go home for the birth of his first child. While his wife (Monaghan) waits for him in Los Angeles, he heads to the airport but gets entangled with dorky aspiring actor Ethan (Galifianakis) and ends up on the no-fly list. As Peter and Ethan drive cross-country a series of adventures ensue, from a stop to buy medical marijuana to a car crash caused by a spot of narcolepsy to an action-packed encounter on the Mexican border.

Peter is a business man who's trying to get home to his wife to be there for the birth of their first child. Being stuck on the other side of the country Peter plans to catch a flight from Atlanta to make sure he's back home in plenty of time. But when he's unable to fly driving is his only option, an aspiring actor names Ethan comes to the rescue of Peters and offers him a place in his car.

Johnny Marco is content living the rock'n'roll dream, he lives at Chateau Marmont, is entertained by lots of ladies, his bathroom cabinets are filled with a selection of pills and he drives his Ferrari without much concern. He's one of the bad boys of Hollywood and the press love it.

Eagle Eye Review

Good
Bruce Sterling's 1998 novel Distraction opens with a group of strangers converging on a bank, each with one specific task. By the time they are done, the entire bank has been disassembled. While this idea of a smart mob's destructive power isn't exactly new, Eagle Eye's variations on the concept make for compelling, if sometimes contrived, cinema.

Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf) is an underachiever mourning the recent death of his overachieving twin brother Ethan. Across town, Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan) is sending her little boy Sam (Cameron Boyce) on a school band trip. While Jerry arrives home to find his apartment filled with every piece of terrorist contraband known to man and a voice on his cell phone telling him to run, Rachel receives a call telling her to follow instructions or her son's train will be derailed.

Made Of Honor Review

Weak
Tom (Patrick Dempsey) had one good idea in college. He invented the coffee collar, that cardboard ring that fits around a cup and keeps a customer's hand from burning.

Today, Tom's a self-made (and self-absorbed) millionaire who spends his evenings with random bimbos and his days with best friend Hannah (Michelle Monaghan).Though they form the perfect pair, Tom doesn't view Hannah as girlfriend material until she leaves Manhattan on a six-week business trip to Scotland. Like a lovesick pup, Tom fidgets and whines until his loved one returns. Too bad for him Hannah's baggage includes a strapping Scottish fiancée (Kevin McKidd).

The Heartbreak Kid (2007) Review

Very Good
While sibling filmmakers Bobby and Peter Farrelly have done enough over the years to sustain their joint career -- which, in this fickle industry, should be lauded -- the two have never come close to duplicating the monumental success of their 1998 hit There's Something About Mary.

Perhaps a reunion with Ben Stiller rekindled a little of that Farrelly fire. because The Heartbreak Kid, a remake of the Charles Grodin-Cybill Shepherd comedy from 1972, is the brothers' most deliberate effort to recapture that Mary magic.

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang Review

Extraordinary
When Shane Black wrote the screenplay for 1996's The Long Kiss Goodnight, he broke his own record as the highest paid screenwriter in Hollywood. Then, just as suddenly as he had burst onto the scene (with the Lethal Weapon screenplay), he dropped off the industry radar. Now, almost 10 years later, he returns as a writer/director with Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, combining the best elements of his earlier scripts with a post-modern twist.

Robert Downey Jr plays Harry Lockhart, a two-bit thief mistaken for an actor and flown out to Hollywood to star in a big-budget film. He's assigned a private eye named Gay Perry (Val Kilmer) to teach him how to act tough. His first night in town he meets Harmony (Michelle Monaghan), a childhood friend who's come to Tinseltown to make it as an actress. Soon all three find themselves involved in murder cases reminiscent of the detective novels with which Harry and Harmony grew up.

Winter Solstice Review

Weak
The plot in Winter Solstice is more of a subplot, never mind a feature length movie. And that's one of the many problems in writer/director Josh Sternfeld's sluggish account of a New Jersey family under stress.

Anthony LaPaglia plays Jim Winters, a widower living with his two sons, Gabe (Aaron Stanford), a hard-working young man; and Pete (Mark Webber), a teenager who can't get his act together. The three are a tight unit, but the bond between them strains when Gabe suddenly announces he's moving to Florida and Pete faces yet another stint at summer school.

Mission: Impossible III Review

Excellent
Paramount's mission sounded impossible. Its assignment? Resurrect Tom Cruise's lucrative espionage franchise, which director John Woo left in shambles after the overly stylish and unreasonably convoluted 2000 installment.

To move forward, the studio and star (a credited producer) looked back - past the first Mission: Impossible movie to the 1960s television program that started it all. The M:I team grabbed TV wunderkind J.J. Abrams to direct after delighting in his original creation Alias, itself a modernized reworking of the spy show. But Abrams does far more than simply reboot the machine. He provides a much-needed stab of adrenaline through the franchise's creative heart.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith Review

OK
Palpable sexual electricity between Brad Pitt and AngelinaJolie provides "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with all the power it needsto overcome a very silly plot about suburbanites whose waning marriageis revitalized by discovering the hard way that they're both undercoverassassins.

Arguably the two sexiest movie stars in America, and bothunderappreciated for their considerable talents as a result, the pair maketrying to kill your spouse seem entertaining and almost erotic.

Directed by Doug Liman ("TheBourne Identity") with tongue-in-cheekpanache, and an eye for metaphorical conflicts of real marriage, the filmopens with John and Jane Smith (Pitt and Jolie) in couples therapy.

"How often do you have sex?" ask the off-screenshrink. "I don't understand the question," Pitt deadpans in response.
