Michael Shannon appears as the villainous General Zod in 'Man Of Steel' and talks about how he enjoyed training for the movie, watching the movies as a kid and why Henry Cavill makes such a good Superman in a press interview.
He mentions that is was nice physically working out in preparation for a movie. 'I kind of enjoyed it because it's very unusual for me', he explains. 'I'm used to doing more cerebral type jobs so it was just nice to get into something through the physical side of it.' He says that Superman was something he, like many, loved during his childhood. 'I loved the movies, and Christopher Reeve was so great, it was so sad when he passed', he says. 'But I didn't get the comic books or anything, I didn't really get into comic books very much.' On why Henry Cavill was so good for the role, he says, 'He's got a nobility about him, I mean, he almost seems like he could be like a prince or something. he's a very kind-hearted person and that's genuine and I think that's what Superman is.'
