Irish star CHRIS O'DOWD has risen to become one of the most promising comedy actors in recent years, and it seems he has even more to celebrate after announcing he is to marry his girlfriend, television presenter DAWN PORTER.
In a holiday season that has already seen Michael Jordan pop the question to his girlfriend, and comedian Russell Brand file for divorce from singer Katy Perry, O'Dowd has announced he is engaged to Porter - a broadcaster and journalist best known for her Sex Education Channel 4 programmes. Well known to UK audiences for his role in cult comedy The I.T Crowd, Chris has begun making waves across the pond and recently starred in the surprise 2011 hit Bridesmaids. He recently filmed scenes for Judd Apatow's Knocked Up sequel This is Forty and is writing and producing an upcoming series for NBC titled Big Men, according to Cinema Blend. In a humorous Twitter post announcing his engagement, the lovable Irishman told followers, "I'm so bored of all this happiness and sex. I'm getting married. Engaged". Not to be outdone by her husband-to-be, Porter told fans, "I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it. engaged".
In 2006, Porter published Diaries of an Internet Lover - a journal about her experiences of meeting people on the internet.
