Michael Jackson's daughter Paris never understood why the King of Pop insisted that she and her brothers wore face masks in public.
During her early years, Paris and brother Prince rarely stepped out in public without their shrouds - because the Thriller hitmaker didn't want his children to be photographed, but she admits her late dad never really explained why he was so adamant about keeping his kids covered up.
It's only now that the 14 year old can see the sense of the disguises, and she's grateful for her dad's smart thinking.
In a candid new TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, Paris Jackson says, "I was really confused, I didn't get why I was wearing a mask. But I understand it now... why my dad would want our faces to be covered."
But she admits she and her brothers were allowed to go out unmasked if their super-famous father wasn't with them: "When we went out without him, we wouldn't be recognised, we would have a normal childhood."
The full TV chat will air in America on Oprah's Next Chapter on Sunday (10Jun12).
