Michael Jackson wore his mother's jacket for good luck when he debuted the moonwalk during a 1983 Tv special.
The King of Pop and his brothers were scheduled to mark the 25th anniversary of their music label Motown Records with a special performance at celebratory bash Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever in March, 1983, and Jackson was so nervous ahead of the big gig he ransacked his mum Katherine's closet to find a lucky outfit to wear.
Fondly remembering Michael's iconic Billie Jean routine during an appearance on America's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (26Jun12), Jermaine Jackson said, "He didn't know what he was gonna wear so he went to my mother's closet. And she had this shiny thing that she wore, this black sequin thing and he said, 'I like that. Can I wear it on the show?'
"That's what he did the moonwalk in... That was my mother's throw."
