Michael Jackson's passport was never lost - despite reports the Santa Barbara District Attorney's office had misplaced the vital document.

Jackson's aides were concerned by the significant delay in the return of the passport after the star's acquittal (13JUN05), and two of them claimed the singer's documents had been lost, according to Fox News reporter ROGER FRIEDMAN.

Judge RODNEY MELVILLE signed an order that the passport should be returned to the THRILLER star on 17 June (05).

Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department spokesman SERGEANT ERIC RAINEY claims the passport was then given to JESUS CASTILLO, a private investigator for Jackson's lawyer THOMAS MESEREAU last week (17JUN05).
