Director Stephen Frears was set to begin filming the racetrack heist movie in Miami later this year (03), but the project collapsed after the lead stars were reportedly unable to finalise arrangements to appear.
He says, "It collapsed on Friday (11JUL03). They couldn't do a deal. Whatever the deal was to get Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, they couldn't get it to work. Everybody wanted to make it but somehow they couldn't lock it into place."
Frears, who worked with Zeta-Jones on High Fidelity in 2000, adds, "I had thought this is going to be tremendous fun, this is going to be like a holiday. I thought it was going to be a nice little treat, something to look forward to, so this is sad."17/07/2003 00:13
