Shelter Review

OK
With slick and snaky production values, directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein create a gleefully bonkers thriller. As a result, there are moments of real terror even as the story gets increasingly ridiculous.

Pittsburgh psychiatrist Caroline (Moore) doesn't believe multiple-personality disorder actually exists, even as her psychiatrist father (DeMunn) continually challenges her. His latest test is David (Rhys Meyers), whose alter-egos manifest with an unexplained physicality. Soon Caroline's brother (Corddry) and daughter (Proulx) are caught up in the mystery as well.

Identity Review

Grim
If, like me, you've been seeing trailers for Identity all year -- with its rain-soaked cast, rickety motel, slowly dying characters, and disappearing bodies -- then, like me, you have absolutely no clue what this movie is supposed to be about.

The I Inside Review

Grim
A hipster-wannabe ripoff of Jacob's Ladder with a terrible title, this senseless thriller has little going for it beyond the beautiful people that inhabit its hospital corridors. Not even Sarah Polley and Piper Perabo (reinventing herself as a femme fatale) can make this story of an amnesiac car-crash victim (Ryan Phillippe) worth sitting through. Of special note: The movie is based on a play with a much different title, one that actually gives away the surprise ending.
