Veteran actor SIR Michael Caine has branded some of Hollywood's hottest new stars too incoherent to deserve a place on the silver screen. The Get Carter star has resorted to lipreading on set because his younger co-stars mumble so much it's difficult to know when his cue is. And he insists directors are at fault too - for not giving their young stars the rigorous acting training he received as an aspiring thespian. Caine says, "I have been in movies where I literally couldn't understand what (the actor) was saying. "We (mature actors) all started in the theatre. People at the back paid to hear what you were saying. It was about projecting - without shouting. "Directors should be doing more to cast people who can speak properly."
