Actress and activist Mia Farrow has launched a new polio campaign in Chad in a bid to eradicate the illness in Central Africa.
The Rosemary's Baby star embarked on a 10-day tour of the region earlier this month (Feb12) in her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef.
During the trip, Farrow, who suffered from the disease as a child, officially launched the organisation's polio vaccination campaign in the hope it will drive down the number of outbreaks of the viral infection.
She says, "To see the eradication of polio would be very meaningful to me personally. The challenge here in Chad is to convince all parents that the vaccine is safe and to reach every child, even in the most remote places."
