Keanu Trailer

Rell has just broken up with his partner and he's in a complete self-absorbed world. Continuously housebound and alone, he feels like his life has ended. Enter Keanu. When Rell hears a faint meowing coming from outside his house he discovers a young kitten on his doorstep just waiting to find a new home. Suddenly, Rell feels a new sense of life, his kitten is the best thing to ever happen to him and Rell's best friend, Clarence, completely confirms these feelings.

Finally able to leave the house, Rell and Clarence go out only to return to find Keanu gone and only his little kitten collar left. So begins a quest to save Keanu. It turns out that the kitten has been taken by a local gangster, in order to get Rell's new pride and joy back, the two are going to have to get down and dirty in a world far from their usual suburban lifestyle.

Keanu was directed by Peter Atencio and written by Jordan Peele and Alex Rubens.

Trainwreck Trailer

Amy enjoys her life in the big city with her comfortable apartment, wacky friends and driven job as a reporter for a men's magazine. As a young girl, her parents sadly divorced, and her father wasted no time in drumming into her that a lifelong partnership with just one person left much to be desired. So she's certainly taking her father's words literally and seems to enjoy the company of a different man every night (though never the full night); it's a life that she has no plans to change any time soon. However, something shifts in her consciousness when she meets sports doctor Aaron Connors on whom she's been commissioned to write an article. The pair hit it off right away, but after their first night together, Amy's left wondering if ending it there is really the best thing to do. It feels weird to carry on seeing someone after she's slept with them, but at the same time, she can't remember the last time she had so much fun.

The Cobbler Trailer

Some people are far more important than you might think. For one lowly cobbler, things are about to change. After a lifetime of fixing other people's shoes, the cobbler, Max Simkin (Adam Sandler) one day dares to try on a pair, discovering that if he walks in a man (or woman)'s shoes, he will become that person. After becoming the wrong person and coming into some money that doesn't belong to him, Simkin must do whatever he can to make it through, and maybe go back to helping other people instead of himself.

Red Tails Trailer

In the height of World War II, the American Army have devised an experimental training programme, known as the Tuskegee Training Programme, that consists of African American soldiers. Despite their hard work training, they are beginning to lose hope that they will ever fight in the war. Discrimination in the army was so rife, the men were often seen as unable to fight for their country.

The Wire: Season Four Review

Essential
By the end of season three of The Wire -- aka HBO's best excuse for staying on the air -- one could sense that the show had, in some sense of the word, come to an end. It was certainly clear for a time that HBO executives thought so, having come close to canceling the multifaceted, frighteningly addictive urban drama yet again, as it never pulled anywhere near the kind of ratings that their warhorses like The Sopranos and Sex and the City had. Although plenty of strings were left dangling at the conclusion of episode 37, "Mission Accomplished," a chapter had been definitively closed, with Avon Barksdale back in jail, and his brainy partner Stringer Belle gunned down. Since the two of them had been the impressive foils to the strung-out cops in the Baltimore Major Crimes Unit, their departure seemed to leave a vacuum. With nobody of real consequence running the West Baltimore drug trade (the Barksdales' chief rival and replacement, Marlo Stanfield, seems at first nothing more than some punk kid), what would be left that was worth watching?

More than enough, it turns out.

Backstage Review

Bad
What goes on behind the scenes at big rap shows? It's exactly what you think. And it ain't worth watching.

Soul Plane Review

OK
Airplane! is the quintessential masterpiece of all airborne spoof films, and while numerous films have tried to replicate the original formula, very few have succeeded. Soul Plane is an inspired effort that updates many of the same gags, but it unfortunately does not have enough frequent-flyer miles to make the full round-trip.

Nashawn Wade (Kevin Hart), along with his buddy Muggsy (Method Man), uses the $100 million Wade wins in a court settlement against the airline that kills his dog, to buy an airline of their very own. Wade calls it NWA - no, not Northwest Airlines - Nashawn Wade Airlines (clever, huh?). It features one departure daily from the 3-1-0 (Los Angeles) to the 2-1-2 (New York) from the brand new Malcolm X terminal at LAX, where a brother can find bargains at a 99 cents store, play some half-court hoops, and eat some fried chicken before a flight.

How High Review

OK
The good old American pot comedy genre has no truly good movies within its category, but it definitely has some of the most enjoyable and memorable films to ever hit the screen. Of the goodies, there's Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke and Ice Cube's Friday, and the bad ones are too numerous to be named (Half Baked being at the bottom of the list).

How High is definitely one of the good ones. Lowbrow, vulgar, and certainly formulaic, it's also creative, absolutely hilarious, and -- judging from the crowd at my screening -- knows better than to shoot over its audience's heads.
