Rockers Metallica have vowed to re-instate their legendary guitar solos on forthcoming albums - after fans voiced their disappointment with recent records.

The ENTER SANDMAN hitmakers plan to begin work on their ninth album when they return to the US from Europe.

And lead guitarist Kirk Hammett is looking forward to a return to their musical roots.

He says, "I think the band misses solos just as much as the fans do. I mean, I play guitar solos every day!

"We've all expressed that fact that we think guitar solos are fun. They're dynamic, expressive and another distinct aspect of Metallica's music.

"And we miss that aspect."
