Legendary rockers Metallica have brought the release date of their new album forward by five days - in a bid to beat internet piracy.

Their eagerly awaited longplayer ST ANGER will hit music store shelves on Thursday (05JUN03), instead of its original release date on 10 June (03).

According to ELEKTRA, the heavy metal quartet's record label, the move is being made "to ensure that counterfeit copies of the band's first studio album in six years do not proliferate in the marketplace".

In the past year, release dates for high-profile albums from Eminem and 50 CENT were moved forward for similar reasons.
