Indie newcomers Glasvegas face stiff competition from rock gods Metallica for the number one spot in the album charts this weekend.
Glasvegas' eponymous debut was released on Monday and shipped an impressive 22,000 copies on its first day of release.
However, the Columbia release - which is 1/2 to top the charts according to Labdrokes - could be pipped by Metallica's Death Magnetic.
Though the heavy metal band's ninth album is not official released until Friday September 12th, Mercury Records have discovered that some music stores have begun selling the album early.
As such, the Death Magnetic release may be brought forward, meaning its current 6/4 odds of reaching the number one spot could be slashed.
Though it seems likely the top two spots will be taken by Glasvegas and Metallica, there remains strong competition from The Verve, the Script and Rihanna, according to Music Week.
Returning boyband's New Kids On The Block's new album The Block is set to reach the top ten while soul singer Bryn Christopher should achieve a top 20 position with his debut.
In the midweek singles chart, Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl shows no signs of being toppled from the number one spot.
