Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep insists young actresses do not need to take off their clothes in order to boost their success.

The Oscar-winner has advised Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson, who recently posed naked together for Vanity Fair, not to feel pressured into baring their flesh to gain more recognition.

She says, "They obviously feel that, to emerge from the pack, they need to distinguish themselves by being more willing to do that than anyone else.

"It's not about the roles they aspire to - it's that they have to sexualise themselves.

"(The new generation) have it drilled into their heads that they need to glamorise themselves (in order to succeed)."
