Actress Mena Suvari vowed to rebel against the movie industry after she became "frustrated" with the controlling nature of studio bosses in Hollywood.
The star shot to fame in Sam Mendes' Oscar-winning drama American Beauty, and she appeared naked in a promotional poster with her modesty preserved by a few strategically placed rose petals.
But the actress admits her naivety about stardom forced her to grow up quickly and she subsequently rebelled against the industry by deliberately making offbeat career choices.
Suvari tells British magazine Radar, "I got really frustrated with it (the industry), and I felt very rebellious towards it, because I didn't feel like I was in control of my life, and that bothered me...
"I had to stay true to who I was, and pursue the kinds of things I was interested in. I decided to go that route. There were things I chose not to work on, because it didn't do anything for me."
