In a recent interview, held in front of a large crowd at a New York community arts centre, the 47-year-old daughter of the late Joan Rivers claimed that Griffin wasn't a good fit for E!'s Fashion Police. The queen of red carpet reporting was ignored by the Oscars during their 'In Memoriam' section on Sunday night.
It’s an annual tradition that the Academy Awards pays tribute to those actors and filmmakers that have died in the last twelve months, and it was no different on Sunday night. Except, there was one major exclusion from the ‘In Memoriam’ reel last night – comedienne and actress Joan Rivers.
A rep from the Academy stated to The Hollywood Reporter: “Joan Rivers is among the many worthy artists and filmmakers we were unfortunately unable to feature in the ‘In Memoriam’ segment of this year's Oscar show. She is, however, included in our 'In Memoriam' gallery on Oscar.com.”

In a new plot twist to the Joan Rivers story, the comedienne’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, is filing a lawsuit against the clinic where her mother had an outpatient procedure, which resulted in her death a week later.
Melissa Rivers' lawsuit claims that her mother's death may have been preventable.
Rivers issued a statement via the LA Times, explaining her reasons behind the suit: "Filing this lawsuit was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make. What ultimately guided me was my unwavering belief that no family should ever have to go through what my mother, [my son] Cooper and I have been through."
