Singer Melanie Chisholm is adamant fans will connect with the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever after she was moved to tears during a workshop for the production.
Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham reunited in London on Tuesday (26Jun12) to announce the show will open at the city's Piccadilly Theatre in the West End later this year (12).
Coming together for a photoshoot at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, where they shot the video for their debut single Wannabe, Chisholm revealed she had been through a range of emotions when watching a run-through of the production.
She tells London's Evening Standard, "From the minute we talked about having the musical based on the songs of the Spice Girls it was just the thought of having our songs performed night after night by wonderful, talented cast members in a great theatre in the West End, hopefully all over the world. That's so exciting.
"Watching the workshops for Viva Forever I had goose bumps, my hair stood on end and there were tears in my eyes. We laughed and we cried, quite uncontrollably at times, which was a little bit embarrassing, but I think that's a good sign."
