Melanie Amaro - the winner of the 2011 season of x factor - returned to the stage on Thursday (December 6, 2012) to perform at the double elimination results show. The singer, 20, landed a $5 million recording contract during the show's debut season, though is still to release her first album. She recently told MTV that Truly will arrive in early 2013.
That means the winner of the current season of X Factor will probably have to wait until 2014 at the earliest to see their album on shelves. Anyway, after she performed her new single on Thursday's show, it was time to find out who was being sent home. The first act to get the boot was Cece Frey. The sassy singer said, "I'm very proud of everything that I've done on this show. I'm ready to leave it with this entire platform that I have acquired for myself. And I hope that I taught everybody at home that you need to love who you are, because the more you love who you are, the less you're going to need anybody else to." Demi Lovato got choked up, telling her act, "I'm just so proud of you." The sing-off featured Diamond White and Fifth Harmony, with the former belting out Lee Ann Womack's 'I Hope You Dance.' The judges cast their votes, with Simon Cowell opting for Fifth Harmony, Britney siding with Diamond, L.A Reid going for Fifth Harmony and Demi opting for the same. It meant the group advanced to the semi-finals, though Diamond remained defiant, "I'm thinking of Cher Lloyd right now, She came in fifth and look where she is." Err... you tell us Diamond, where is she?
Tate Stevens remains the favorite to win this year's competition, with Carly Rose Soneclar his closest rival.
