A Washington DC teacher has been suspended from an elementary school indefinitely after showing his class scenes from Mel Gibson's controversial new movie The Passion Of The Christ.

RONALD ANTHONY chose to show children some of the film's disturbing scenes during a class chat about Jesus Christ, but was reprimanded following complaints from parents.

The school's headmaster VAUGHN KIMBOROUGH has now offered to pay for counselling sessions for any of the young children who were disturbed by what they saw.

As well as a schoolboard reprimand, Anthony faces a federal investigation as to how he managed to get hold of a bootlegged copy of the film, which has only been on release in cinemas in America for 10 days.
