Mel Gibson is facing legal action from Russian Jewish human rights groups who claim his movie The Passion Of The Christ is anti-Semitic.

According to American news site THE SCOOP a number of groups are threatening to sue Gibson and the film's Russian distributor because of The Passion's portrayal of the role Jews played in the death of Jesus Christ.

ALEXANDER BROD, director of the MOSCOW HUMAN RIGHTS BUREAU, tells The Scoop, "Several Jewish organizations and individuals told us that the film fuels ethnic hatred and cultivates xenophobic myths about the Jewish people's guilt for crucifying Christ,"
