A judge has praised embattled actor Mel Gibson for his probation progress after the star completed twice the amount of counselling sessions required of him.
The Braveheart star struck a plea deal with Los Angeles prosecutors in March (11) in a bid to stay out of jail after he was accused of attacking ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva during a heated argument last year (10).
Under the terms of the agreement, Gibson pleaded no contest to simple misdemeanour battery and was sentenced to three years' probation, and was ordered to undergo 52 weeks of counselling and serve 16 hours of community service.
He has already completed his community service requirements and Gibson continued to impress Judge Stephanie Sautner during a progress report in court on Thursday (01Dec11).
Judge Sautner also told the actor he is right on track with his 12-step program, reports Tmz.com.
