Mel Gibson's new movie 'The Beaver', directed by Jodie Foster, has had its release date pushed back from 28th March 2011 to 6th May 2011.
MEL GIBSON, the Australian actor whose new movie 'The Beaver' is one of the most anticipated of the year, will now see his quirky comedy released alongside a string of Hollywood blockbusters in the summer. Made on a relatively modest budget, the movie will do box office battle with the likes of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'.'The Beaver', which is scheduled to premiere at the South by Southwest Festival in March, follows the story of a troubled husband (Gibson) who begins to use a beaver hand-puppet as a means of communicating with his family. The film is set to hit cinemas on the same day as 'Thor' and the 3-D movie 'Priest', starring Paul Bettany. In the weeks that follow, Johnny Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and one of the biggest comedy movies of 2011, 'The Hangover 2', will also be released. Gibson was initially scheduled to make a cameo in the latter but his part was later scrapped amidst rumours of a rift with actor Zach Galifianakis.
Gibson's personal problems were reported once again this week with the news that he is still yet to settle his expensive divorce from estranged wife Robyn.
