Actress Meg Ryan and director Steven Soderbergh are joining the panel of judge's at the CANNE FILM FESTIVAL next month (MAY03).

They join veteran French actor Jean Rochefort, actress Karin Viard and Italian writer ERRI DE LUCA on the nine-strong panel, headed by gallic director Patrice Chereau.

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai joins the panel as the first Indian actress on the Cannes jury.

The prestigious PALME D'OR award will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony on 25 May.

Among films being premiered at this year's event is The Matrix Reloaded and Penelope Cruz's new French-language movie Fanfan La Tulipe.

The second film in the Matrix thriller trilogy will be shown out-of-competition on 15 May.
