Meg Ryan celebrated her 50th birthday yesterday, reports The Inquistr, the treasured actress still in good form with an appearance in 2012 movie 'Lives Of The Saints' forthcoming. The film, directed by CHRIS ROSSI , will also star John Lithgow and rapper 50 Cent and will come some 26 years after Ryan initially broke through by playing Carol Bradshaw in cult classic 'Top Gun'.
Ryan's real breakthrough however came in 1989 romantic comedy 'When Harry Met Sally.' where she starred opposite Billy Crystal in a film which explored whether it was possible if a man and woman could just be friends. The plaudits she got after playing the role, including an AMERICAN COMEDY AWARD for Best Supporting Actress, meant that she became regular fixture in the genre, hitting success again four years later when appearing alongside Tom Hanks in 'Sleepless In Seattle'. Ryan also had a successful year in 1998, appearing in films 'City Of Angels' and 'You've Got Mail' - the latter of which saw her play alongside Tom Hanks for the third time (the pair had also starred opposite one another in 1990's 'Joe Versus The Volcano'.
It's all been success and accolades for the actress however, 2008's 'The Women' saw the star suffer the ignominy of being nominated for the Worst Actress award at THE GOLDEN RASPBERRY AWARDS.
