What happened to your band?

Charlie Simpson didn't take part in Busted's reunion, but he never stayed quiet in the music world.
McBusted - the pop supergroup combination of boybands McFly and Busted - have been selling out arenas all over the world since their inception back in November 2013. However, along with the announcement of McBusted's birth, it was obvious that the group would be missing a key component: former Busted member Charlie Simpson. He had his reasons for not taking part in the reunion, but what's the popstar turned rocker been up to as of late?
Charlie Simpson just released his second album, 'Long Road Home'
It's no secret - Simpson was the reason behind Busted's demise so many years ago, but his departure led to taking his music career to new heights. He then became the frontman of alternative rock band Fightstar, and they quickly became a force in the genre, as well as charts in the UK. Eventually, his horizons expanded even further: Simpson began posting solo demos on his MySpace page, and it ended up leading to his first solo album, Young Pilgrim, in 2011. Young Pilgrim was a landmark in Simpson's career for sure, and it allowed the songwriter to delve into a deeper aspect of his music - trading screams and electric guitars for acoustics and more softer songs. Young Pilgrim peaked at number six on the UK album charts, but he also found some success in America as well. In the summer of 2013, Simpson traveled across the U.S. on the Vans Warped Tour, playing an acoustic set at a number of dates to a very well received crowd. In a way, you might even say that Simpson found more success in the States than he ever did in Busted.

After McBusted's tour ends in June, the pop-rock supergroup plans to hit the studio for a full-length.
It just keeps getting better in the world of McBusted. The pop-rock supergroup combination of McFly and Busted has been selling out arenas for the past few months all across Europe, and what originally just started out as an idea has been fleshed out into a full-blown phenomenon, and it can only grow from here. McBusted came to fruition officially on November 11 2013, when it was announced that the group would be taking on tour of eleven shows that eventually developed into a total of 35. Starting in April and ending in early June, the shows have been met with critical acclaim.
McBusted has been selling out arenas for their current tour
“This tour could easily have been joyless and desperate,” said a review on The Guardian. “Instead, the show is fun and idiosyncratic, this six-headed pop conglomerate proving far greater than the sum of its parts.” McBusted, however, is without a third of the original Busted members. Charlie Simpson (unsurprisingly) opted not to take part in the McBusted festivities, but he at least got a decent sum of money to let them carry on the name. It isn’t stopping Busted in its current iteration to continue its juggernaut status that it had in the early 2000’s. McFly, on the other hand, seemed to be on their way out after a couple of dud albums, but it seems like McBusted is reviving both bands and making them better than ever.

Festival fun in London! Highlights include Jabberwocky, Camden Crawl and Wireless...
If you want a unique festival experience this year, London could be the place for you. Featuring a diverse range of events from the independent ethics of Jabberwocky to the mainstream attitude of Wireless, 2014 is not all about the States.
The UK is home to some incredible, highly respected music festivals such as Isle of Wight Festival, Leeds and Reading Festival and, of course, Glastonbury - but just what do we have in store from the nation's capital? London is unquestionably the UK's most vibrant city and, when it comes to music, there's really no denying that. The rest of the world may have SXSW, Coachella, Ultra and Exit (to name but a very small few), but London has a plethora of unique local events with line-ups and atmospheres that really prove their worth - and we're here to share them with you.
Jabberwocky (August 15th-16th)
All Tomorrow's Parties present this brand new festival for 2014, co-hosted by Pitchfork and Primavera Sound and set to take place at The Excel Centre this August. For its inaugural event, Jabberwocky will see headline acts from Neutral Milk Hotel, James Blake, Darkside and Caribou, not to mention support from Kurt Vile & The Violators, Hookworms and Electric Wizard. Like many of the best festivals, it's not all about the music as Jabberwocky will be hosting some film events and, as the name suggests, there'll be plenty of art to enjoy too. Tickets are priced at £38.50 per day.
