Earlier this month The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik announced that she and her husband would be divorcing, and now as USA Today reports she'll be fighting for joint physical and legal custody of the two children she and Michael Stone brought into the world.

The documents released today by the L.A. County Superior Court say that they are divorcing on the basis of 'irreconcilable differences'. In her original statement on Kveller.com she said: "Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly."

"The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision; relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose."

Clearly, Bialik's first concern is her children and this is further reflected in the poem she also published today. Titled 'Ode to the First Weeks', it's about the difficulty both children and parents face when faced with another sibling. It includes the lines "Before he [the second baby] came / It was mama mama mama all the time... But then he came / And you wanted nothing to do with me / You wanted dada / Just dada / Only dada". She may have published it in relation to her current feelings about the divorce. Responses to the poem on the website have been an outpouring of emotion, many commenters saying the poem brought them to tears, which hopefully will help Bialik feel a little less alone in the crisis that divorce brings to any couple. We wish the whole family all the best.
