Rockers Maximo Park were forced to turn away fans from a charity gig in Newcastle, England - when over 2,500 people turned up to claim 400 free tickets.
Organisers of the concert at Newcastle College Performance Academy were overwhelmed by the repose to Tuesday (24Mar09) night's gig - which saw tickets given away for free in return for a small donation to Britain's No Surrender charity.
Thousands for fans queued for hours in a bid to secure entry to the concert - but most were turned away as the venue could not hold more than 400 people.
No Surrender supports cancer sufferers through social network site No-surrender.org. The charity was set up by the band's friend Jason Boas, who recently passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
