Celebrity publicist Max Clifford has denied historical sex abuse allegations against him following his arrest on Thursday (06Dec12), branding them "damaging and totally untrue".
The 69-year-old public relations guru, who has represented Simon Cowell and O. J. Simpson, was detained by cops working on Operation Yewtree, a probe into claims that Tv star Sir Jimmy Savile abused up to 300 youngsters throughout his long-running entertainment career. Clifford was interviewed about offences that do not directly relate to the late entertainer.
He was released on bail later in the day and has now addressed the speculation surrounding his arrest.
Clifford confirmed he is facing two accusations dating back to 1977, and added, "These allegations are damaging and totally untrue. On a personal level, they are very distressing for myself, my wife and loved ones.
"Anyone who really knew me all those years ago, and those who have known me since, will have no doubt that I would never act in the way I have today been accused."
