Macbeth - Teaser Trailer

After a long, hard battle, a Scottish Thane learns of a prophesy that will change his life forever. Macbeth (Michael Fassbender) is confronted by three witches, who inform him that he shall one day be king, and that no man born by a woman shall ever kill him. When another of their prophecies comes true, he confronts his wife (Marion Cotillard), who convinces him that he must murder King Duncan (David Thewlis). From there, Macbeth falls into the darkest depths of the human soul, as he betrays those he loves for power, and abandons his friends for the love of prophesies.

The Dark Review

Weak
With a marquee that features the names Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings) and Maria Bello (A History of Violence), plus the current infatuation with supernatural horror, you'd think a film like The Dark would merit a better fate than heading straight to DVD.

Well, someone at the studio must have actually watched it when they were making the decision. The Dark is a confusing and derivative mess of a film, though its strong start and solid performances would have you believe otherwise.

Forgive And Forget Review

Weak
Angst-ridden twentysomething Brits struggle with life, love, and homosexuality -- yet again -- in Forgive and Forget, wherein two best friends become torn apart because one of them gets a little close to his girlfriend, spending more time with her and less time with his mate.

It's happened before, sure, but this time the friend causing all the trouble turns out to be gay, and of course he's madly in love with his pal. They fight, they make up, they fight some more, and all the while no one realizes our misunderstood hero is in the closet.

Beautiful Creatures Review

Excellent
Not to be confused with Beautiful People or Heavenly Creatures, Beautiful Creatures is a British murder-comedy romp in the tradition of Shallow Grave and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.

This time out, its two women (the beautiful Rachel Weisz (The Mummy series) and the less beautiful Susan Lynch) get caught up in a murder when one of their boyfriends gets abusive and takes a lead pipe to the skull at the hands of the other girl. Soon enough, a ransom plan is hatched (despite the fact that the guy is dead), the cops catch on and demand a cut, the body count starts to rise, and the whole affair proves that these girls make poor criminals indeed.

Beautiful Creatures Review

Weak

While leaving town to get away from her abusive boyfriend, Dorothy (Susan Lynch) comes upon a scene that's all-too-familiar to her: another young woman getting smacked around in the middle of the street.

High on courage and indignation -- at least for the moment -- Dorothy picks up a pipe and bashes the guy's head in, saving platinum blonde trophy squeeze Petula (Rachel Wiesz). But now these newly-bonded sisters have a dead body on their hands.

Such is the set-up for "Beautiful Creatures," an energetic and sometimes clever, dark comedy crime thriller from Scotland that's full of sharp ideas but undermined by blunt-headed characters and logistical loopholes.
