Matt LeBlanc believes people think he is "stupid".

The 43-year-old actor, who is best known for his portrayal of pizza-loving ladies-man Joey Tribbiani in long running comedy series 'Friends', thinks many people speak slower to him because of his work on the TV sitcom, but it can play to his advantage.

He said: "Being known as Joey always gives me an advantage going into any situation because their guard is down.

"They think I'm stupid. They speak nice and slow to me. "

However, he has no regrets about playing the Italian-American hunk because people believed his portrayal so much they no longer know the difference between him and the character.

He said: "I never look at is as a bad thing. If someone believes your performance you've done and really thinks you're that person, that's kind of a compliment."

Matt - who starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry in the TV show - recently said he would not be sure about returning to do a reunion because it would be "sad".

He said: "What would the story be? We all get together and what? Have coffee? It would be almost sad. It's better to just imagine what those characters are doing now."
