Matt Lauer has reportedly landed a lucrative five-year deal with NBC to remain as co-host of the Today show, published reports said today (Friday). The website TMZ said that Lauer will receive "close to" the $30-million annual salary that he had demanded to stay on (he currently gets $17 million) and that informally NBC agreed to remove Ann Curry as his cohost. Gawker.com recently posted an article quoting a source as saying that Lauer "absolutely hates her" as co-host. "Everybody knows she's gone," said another source. Several reports indicated that Savannah Guthrie, a former attorney and Court TV commentator who now co-hosts the third hour of Today , will move up to the primary hours when Curry gets the boot.
