Matt Damon and Michael Douglas are set to play lovers in 'Behind the Candelabra', a biopic about US pianist and vocalist Liberace.
The Hollywood actors are set to star in the biopic about US pianist and vocalist Liberace - who became well known for his flashy clothing and musical talent - with the production set to give a "behind the scenes" look at his relationship with entertainer Scott Thorson.
Jerry Weintraub - executive producer of the project, which will be directed by Steven Soderbergh - said in a statement: "I am thrilled that we have the incomparable Michael Douglas to inhabit the role of Liberace, as well as the exceptional Matt Damon to play the pivotal part of Scott Thorson."
But Liberace - who died in 1987 aged 67 - never revealed his sexual orientation and once sued a newspaper for implying he was homosexual.
In a statement released by HBO Films, producers explained viewers will be able to get a "behind-the-scenes look at the tempestuous relationship between legendary entertainer Liberace and Scott Thorson, his younger live-in lover".
