Hollywood star Matt Damon is "embarrassed" after his mother paid off a string of the actor's unpaid parking tickets, which date back 13 years.
The movie hunk and new love Luciana Barroso returned to Damon's native Massachusetts this week (begs05JUL04) to spend time with his mother NANCY CARLSSON-PAIGE and to check out his favourite baseball team the BOSTON RED SOX.
The OCEAN'S ELEVEN actor's driving licence was suspended by a Massachusetts court in 1997 after he failed to pay four unpaid parking tickets dating back to 1991 and an excise tax bill from 1993.
After reading about her son's monetary matters in a local newspaper, Carlsson-Paige decided to clear Damon's driving record.
At a charity preview for Damon's latest film THE Bourne Supremacy at the LOEWS BOSTON COMMON cinema in the state capital last night (07JUL04), Carlsson-Paige explained, "I did pay for the tickets and I've already asked him for the money back."
In an interview with local radio station STAR 93.7 yesterday (07JUL04), a blushing Damon admitted, "It was embarrassing.
"She said, 'What do you mean you have unpaid parking tickets?' So she went down to pay them. I wasn't aware, actually, but it's kind of embarrassing."08/07/2004 17:25
