Matt Damon wants to follow in the footsteps of his co-star George Clooney and idol Clint Eastwood by successfully combining screenwriting, acting and directing careers. Damon has already won an Oscar for his script for Good Will Hunting, but he is yet to put on his directing cap. He admits, "The career that I aspire to is George Clooney's - he's definitely doing it right. And Clint Eastwood. "They're acting, writing and directing and they're doing it on their terms. I love making movies and I really want to direct. I've been studying directors for the past 10 years so I feel I'm ready to do it." Damon's close pal Affleck is set to release his directing debut Gone, Baby, Gone later this year (07).
