Actor Matt Damon has launched a scathing attack on the James Bond franchise - calling the superspy character a "repulsive misogynist". The Hollywood star, who played the lead role in the Bourne action trilogy, has poured scour on the iconic 007 movie series, singling out the fictional secret agent himself for particular criticism.
Damon says, "He's repulsive. Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people. The movies have a formula, and they stick to it, and it makes them a lot of money.
"They know what they are doing and they're going to keep doing it."
The character of James Bond, originally created by writer Ian Fleming, is currently played by Daniel Craig and has endured for more than 40 years.
