Actor Martin Sheen has slammed President GEORGE W. Bush's behaviour towards the Dixie Chicks after they spoke out against him - branding his behaviour 'un-Christian'. The star has criticised America's reaction to the 2003 incident, in which bandmember Natalie Maines said she was "ashamed the President of the United States was from Texas" - her native state; comments which led to a national boycott of the band's music. But Sheen believes President Bush should have dealt with the situation in a more impartial way. He says, "I saw what happened to the Dixie Chicks. "If George W. Bush were a true Christian, like he proclaims himself to be, you know what he would have done? He'd have invited them to his next barbeque to play and say 'Hey, I love their music and whether or not I agree with them, I support their right to free speech.' But instead he was a bully. And he enjoyed watching what happened to them ... it gave him a sense of power and righteousness."
