Martin Scorsese's Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator was the high-flying success story at the 62nd Golden Globe Awards last night (16JAN05) when the movie took home three of the five honours it was nominated for.

The movie beat Million Dollar Baby and CLOSER, among others, to the Best Drama prize, while LEONARDO DiCAPRIO claimed the Best Actor, Drama, honour and HOWARD SHORE took home the Best Score award.

Scorsese, himself, lost out to Clint Eastwood in the Best Director category. Eastwood's boxing drama, MILLION DOLLAR BABY, joined SIDEWAYS and CLOSER as the night's double movie winners.

Meanwhile, in the TV categories, it was a good night for hit new show Desperate Housewives, which claimed two huge prizes.

The series' star Teri Hatcher took home the Best Actress honour in the Musical or Comedy category and the show picked up the night's Best TV Comedy award.

The other big TV winners were NIP/TUCK (Best Drama Series), MARISKA HARGITAY (Best Actress, Drama Series) and Ian McShane (Best Actor, Drama Series).
