Martin Bashir stepped down from his post on MSNBC this week after making a disparaging comment against former Alaska governor and one-time vice president hopeful Sarah Palin during a broadcast last month. During an appearance on Fox News' Fox & Friends show on Thursday, 5 December, Palin addressed the comments for the first time and said that she is ready to "move on" following the incident.
Bashir was critical of Palin's competence as a politician
"My role was to accept his apology and be humble enough to accept it and move on," Palin said in the broadcast (via USA Today). A regular contributor for Fox News, Palin is a frequent critic of the news coverage found in what she calls the "lamestream media," and said during yesterday's broadcast that it was "refreshing to see though that many in the media did come out and say, 'Look, our standards have got to be higher than this.'"

The comments stemmed from a segment of Bashir's reportage that looked at the brutal punishments slaves were subjected to, as detailed by estate overseer Thomas Thistlewood, who kept a detailed diary of 18th century slavery.

In possibly the most predictable story of all time, Martin Bashir has resigned from MSNBC over comments he made about Sarah Palin. The only other way this could have gone was a sacking, but something tells us this resignation wasn’t all one way.
